There are three
main areas to consider when choosing your wedding
photographer:
Is the
price right for your budget?
If you're on
a tight budget, then make sure you put as much of
your money as possible into having your photographer
there for as long as you want on the day, rather
than paying for fancy albums. You can always upgrade
or re do your album in the future, but you can't
get the time back on the day.
Do you
like their work?
Make sure you
see examples taken by your photographer and ask
to see an unedited wedding, not just display.
Do you
like them?
They may take
great photographs and be priced just right, but
a photographer you don't like could ruin your day,
so ask to meet your photographer, you'll get a good
feel for how they will handle themselves, you and
your guests on the day.
Below
are some useful questions to ask any photographer
you are considering for your Wedding:
What deposit
do they require to secure the booking?
£100 to
secure the booking
When is
the final balance due?
The remaining
balance is due one month before the wedding day.
You can pay by installment if that helps with your
budgeting.
Do they
have Public liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance?
Yes - I am happy
to provide a copy of the policy document.
Do they
have back-up camera equipment?
Yes, I can photograph
a camera using one camera, but prefer to work with
two on the day, plus I carry a third spare. This
provides me with two back up cameras.
How do
you keep the wedding images storage secure?
All wedding images
are stored on two RAID 6 secure storage devices,
each in a separate premises. A third copy is stored
on DVD. This storage method provides security against
Fire, burglary, Hard drive malfunction and computer
virus.
How long
are the images stored for?
Images are stored
for six years.
How many
weddings do they photograph each year?
Last year I personally
photographed over seventy weddings.
What happens
if your photographer is taken ill on the day?
I work with four
other wedding photographers and we provide back
up for each other in the event of an accident or
ill health leading up to the wedding.
How much
are additional photographs?
See
'Extras'.
How much
does the disk of images (high resolution & copyright-free)
cost?
See
'Extras'.
How much
are additional photographs in your album?
Additional photographs
for the album are sold in pairs (one on each side
of an extra page). They are £20 per pair if
you book them in your package and £30 per
pair if you add them after the wedding.
Do they
require food and drink on the day?
If I am booked
to photograph after the wedding breakfast, I do
require food and a drink, however, I don't expect
this to be the same meal as your guests, just a
sandwich and a glass of water is sufficient. Neither
would I want to be seated in the main room.
Can you
decide how many (or how few) group shots you have
taken?
Yes - I provide
a generic shot list a month before the wedding and
allow you to add or delete photographs. I wouldn't
want you to spend your wedding day having photographs
taken that aren't important to you.
